Teachers: The Power to Change Lives

The chance to enrich the lives of students is the driving force behind many teachers decision to enter the field of education. Today, online education degrees mean that more people can begin their careers easier, and often for less money, then ever before. Early education is a favorite subject among many teachers who believe it is by reaching children early that they can develop into students who excel in subjects just as science and biology. It is these same students who will go onto take high education classes once they graduate from secondary school.

The process of becoming a teacher in the United States has always been somewhat cumbersome. Those interested in teaching had to attend a four-year institution and often spend up to one year as a student teacher – an unpaid position. It developed into an education system that not many people could afford. Luckily, with a move towards more online classes, it has become possible for people to get online education degrees in a more cost-effective way.

This change is already impacting our young children. Teachers, qualified to teach the traditionally difficult science subjects, are emerging from online programs with a solid foundation in their chosen field. They will have a strong understanding of current teaching methodologies. This will eventually lead to a stronger class of young students, poised to go on to college and enter the career market. A good teacher hold within their hands the absolute power to change the lives of their students and online education degrees are making it possible.

Even More Terrifying Science Jobs

Are you a science major or taking online college courses in science? If you dream of being a scientist, you probably envision yourself tucked away in a lab somewhere doing brilliant research. Did you ever picture yourself examining whale feces?

Well, that’s what some scientists do.

The world of science isn’t black and white. It’s filled with a thousand shades of gray– and some shades are more horrifying than others. Here are some of the strangest scientific jobs out there.

  1. Studying whale feces. You probably already know that you can learn a lot about an animal by examining its feces. Well, some scientists are harnessing excrement research to study one of the hardest (and largest) creatures to study: whales. Scientists are able to study an individual whale’s genetics through its feces. Some researchers even train dogs to sniff out the scent of whale feces on the open seas.
  2. Dung collector. How’d you like to examine prehistoric dung? Like whale feces, prehistoric feces is an amazing resource for scientists interested in the species. Researchers can even extract DNA from ancient dung or research diets of extinct animals. Dung can be used to date an animal’s existence on our planet before it went extinct.

Organ collector. You may be an organ donor, but do you know what happens to a donor body after death? Experts come in, remove the organs, and then go to work on the rest of your body. They take your bones to make a patch paste for orthopedic operations. These organ harvesters can spend as many as ten hours working over a cadaver

Learn About Alternative Energy

The future of energy is in the water. Hydro-electric power will give huge possibilities for the earth’s growing energy needs. Marine biology and earth science degrees are important majors for those students who want to get in on the cutting edge of providing electric resources.

Taking Care of the Environment

Much of the argument against fossil fuels is their negative impact on the environment. With renewable resources, like hydro-power, there should be less danger to the earth’s delicate eco balance. Even so, more scientists will be needed to study marine life and the effect of using water to create electricity.

Students who enjoy science and biology can develop a great career future by enrolling on online college courses that support a Marine Biology degree. All energy companies hire biologist to make sure that the natural world is protected when people introduce new technologies. Marine biologists not only offer education to energy companies, but they also help keep the public and regulatory agencies informed.

Global Warming and It’s Impact On the Ocean

The polar ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising. Warmer water will affect the delicate balance of life in the sea. By using the sea to help protect the earth, while providing needed power, is a doubly good approach. Even working civil and electrical engineers would benefit from taking a few online college courses that deepen their understanding of ocean life and its importance to the survival of civilization.

Science is not political. It is a discipline that tests and proves or disproves theories. Without well-educated scientists, we allow the wrong people to make decisions that impact our future

Succeeding with a Degree in Science

When it comes to going to college we all struggle with trying to do our best. The college experience will always be different for everyone. Unfortunately science students can’t cram for exams and think they will get the best grade once the semester is over.

Here are some tips for science students succeeding in online courses to earn a degree in science.

Learn the Vocabulary

The most important part of majoring in science is learning all the vocabulary. Here’s a tip. Try to remember the root of the words because that’s what’s going to help you remember all the vocabulary words you’re bound to get over the next four years.

Learn the Concepts

With science, each concept will build on another one. Learning this is going to help make your life a bit easier in school. Don’t cram for everything the night before. You need to keep up with the assignment and study before each test. If a practice test is given, take it. This is how you can see what you know and don’t know.

Learn the general concepts before you go after concepts that are more specific. Before you can know the factors that help you find what an ant is, you have to know about the factors in identifying an insect.

Don’t miss Class

For science majors your lab classes will be the most important. This is how you’re going to learn a lot about science… through experiments. If you miss any of the experiments you can get behind and it might be hard to catch up.

Take Good Notes

It’s always good to take notes. If you’re unsure about something write it down and look it up later. You can always ask questions. Never leave anything unanswered because it could end up slowing you down later on.

Careers in Science

There are a myriad of different careers in science that are available for you to pursue. If you are passionate about science, then you should definitely consider the benefits of a science education that you can apply to a wide variety of different jobs.

Pursuing a Career in Science

It may surprise you to know how many different types of science career opportunities there are. Science careers fall into a wide variety of different categories, and even math and computer degrees can be considered to be science careers in certain disciplines. There really is no shortage of different job and career opportunities for you to pursue. Once you know what type of career you are specifically interested in preparing for, the next step in the process is to develop an education plan that is going to help you get there.

Do you want to obtain online education degrees or a traditional degree instead? This is ultimately up to you to decide, but you should consider the flexibility of an online degree in comparison to a regular degree. You should also consider that many science and biology courses are best taken in person because they offer a hands on approach to learning. Oftentimes the best solution is to take a hybridization route, taking both online courses and regular on campus courses to get the most well rounded education possible. This is a great way to make sure you get the best of both worlds when you are obtaining the education required for a science career.

Expanding Your Education in the Real World

Being educated is a whole lot different from just getting a degree. You need to work during your degree program so you can gain the real world experience you need to make something of yourself in this world. If you don’t, you’ll end up being someone with plenty of book learning but no real world understanding. That’s no way to run a life.

This is the ultimate benefit of online education degrees. When you learn to be a teacher while you actually practice what you’re learning in the real world, you can enrich the lives of young people far more effectively than you ever could if you just sat in a classroom listening to a teacher drone on. Real world experience is what makes a great teacher something special. To reach a child, you need to understand human beings and how we all relate to the world. This is very hard to learn in the classroom.

However, there is more to it than just going out into the world. You don’t want to go be a gangbanger or a drifter. You still want to be educated. An online degree is just as good as one gained in a regular classroom, and perhaps even better. After all, it’s easy to get your education when everyone around you is providing a little pressure to do so. When you’re on your own learning life lessons, you actually have to want your education to benefit from it. Discipline is the difference

Getting a Teaching Degree in Science

If you love science and love helping others understand how the world works and all of the world’s intricacies, then teaching science may be the perfect career for you. Many shy away from teaching because of the pay, but when it comes to having a job you love, that’s priceless. Why? Because whatever career you choose, you are going to be spending a large percentage of your life doing it. Would you rather love what you do with vacations being the icing on the cake? Or would you rather live for weekends and vacations because most every day is boring and unfulfilling?

There are a couple ways to earn a degree teaching science. One is to get a degree from a local college or university. If you have not received any degree post high school, then it will likely take you four years to complete the degree. If you already have a bachelor’s degree, the best option is to look for a master’s degree program that also helps you to qualify for your teaching certificate. With a master’s degree in education, you’ll not only be qualified to teach, but your base salary starting out will be higher than someone with just a bachelor’s degree.

Another option is to look for an online degree program. You’ll have the same advantages as getting a degree from a local college or university, but with added convenience. This is especially important if there isn’t an institution that offers a science teaching program near where you live.

Computer Processor Chip Design

Many people who go into a science field today are looking at technology. Our technology is advancing quickly. In fact, it is so fast, that many say that the computer you purchase today is going to be irrelevant tomorrow. The science and mathematics that go into this field is intense. There are so many things that need to work right together that it is important that those doing things like processor chip design know and understand what they are doing.

Though most of the time, these processor chips, and other integral parts to computers and other electronic devices, are actually made in factories, the information behind them has to be known, understood, and implemented before hand.

Knowing the history of processor chips is important to understanding how they work today. These chips were originally used in smaller electronic items, in the 1970′s, such as electronic calculators. From there, they started to be used in slightly larger items, such as printers, and even some types of terminals. It wasn’t until the late 1970′s to early 1980′s that microprocessors and processor chips started to be used in computers. At this time, they were highly expensive, and much more difficult to make than they are today.

This field of study has been integral in making computers a household item. They are currently much more powerful and much less expensive than they were when they first started out. As time goes by, these chips will become even more powerful, and able to deal with much more information. To show how popular these are, there were nearly 10 billion CPUs made in the year 2008, and of these, about 98 percent are embedded with a processor chip.

This is a growing field, and one that is in need of people. Those interested in how computers run may find processor chip design, and the design and implementation of other key computer parts a great career option.
